Meet the Patchogue 2012 Team

Mayor Paul Pontieri has served the Village of Patchogue for 19 years. He was elected Mayor in March of 2004 after eleven years as a Village Trustee. During his tenure as Mayor, the Village of Patchogue has experienced a revitalization spurred on by over $150 million dollars in public and private investment. Mayor Pontieri has established Patchogue as a successful model of “smart growth” with a number of major economic development initiatives that he and his administration have put in place. A lifelong resident of Patchogue Village, Mayor Pontieri is a retired school administrator and has owned his own business. In August 2009 he was appointed Deputy Brookhaven Town Supervisor for Economic Development, a position that he held for two years. He is the Governor’s appointee to the board of Suffolk County Community College, a member of the board of the Long Island Regional Planning Council, Executive Board Member of the New York Conference of Mayors, a Trustee of the Independent Group Homes and Living (IGHL) and past President of the Suffolk County Village Officials. Mayor Pontieri is also involved in many local, community organizations and activities, and is a board member of the Patchogue Medford Youth and Community Services. Mayor Pontieri has been honored by the Long Island Housing Partnership, Regional Plan Association and Vision Long Island for his accomplishments in the revitalization of downtown Patchogue, and for the Village’s commitment to providing affordable housing for its residents.

Deputy Mayor/Trustee Jack Krieger was first elected to office in 2004 and re-elected in 2008. His primary responsibility is to serve as Board Liaison to the Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. Upon taking office in 2004, Trustee Krieger spearheaded the reorganization of the Theatre board and management team and helped to turn what was a money losing operation into one of the most successful entertainment venues on Long Island. He works closely with the Theatre staff and focuses on their advertising, marketing and programming efforts. He has worked side-by-side with Mayor Pontieri on the development of various projects including Artspace and the $100 million dollar New Village development at the Four Corners. He serves as Lighting and Parking Commissioner and is working with the Mayor to develop plans to improve parking throughout the Village. In addition, Trustee Krieger is the Board Liaison to the Greater Patchogue Chamber of Commerce. Prior to his current position as Public Information Officer for the Town of Brookhaven, Deputy Mayor Krieger spent 25 years in advertising and marketing, primarily in the entertainment and television field. He is a lifelong resident of Patchogue Village and lives with his wife Jennifer and three children. His father, Roy F. Krieger served as a Patchogue Village Trustee for two decades.

Trustee Lori Devlin was elected to the Village Board in 2006 and was re-elected to office in 2008. She served as a member of the Patchogue Village Planning Board from 2004 to 2006 and as a member of the Community Development Agency from 2006 to 2010. She is currently the Commissioner of Planning and Zoning. In her role as Trustee, Lori has worked closely with Mayor Pontieri on many initiatives, especially those concerning the arts, the environment, riverfront revitalization and the beautification of Patchogue Village. She is responsible for implementing an urban forestry program, which was awarded a $15,000 New York State grant for tree planting. As a board member and founding past-president of the Patchogue Arts Council, Trustee Devlin has been instrumental in establishing Patchogue as a center for the arts. She, along with her husband John, has lived in Patchogue Village for 27 years and they have one child who recently graduated from the State University at Albany. Trustee Devlin earned a BFA from New York Institute of Technology and is the Long Island Regional Sales Manager for Winebow Inc., a wholesale wine distributor.

Trustee candidate Tom Ferb has served on the Patchogue Village Zoning Board of Appeals for the last eight years and been involved in decisions concerning nearly all of the major economic development projects in the Village since Mayor Pontieri took office. He is most interested in fair dealing, fiscal responsibility and quality of life issues. Tom is currently a professional licensed financial advisor with Ameriprise. During a career spanning nearly 40 years, he has been an executive at Investment Dealers Digest, a Dow Jones company; Cambridge Technology Partners; and Covansys Corporation. His responsibilities included managing staffs of up to 100 people, new product development, and profit and loss. Prior to that, he participated in and led evaluations of many high-profile government sponsored projects including Head Start and Follow Through at Abt Associates, a think tank in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He was also Director of Research at the Brookline Early Education Project in Massachusetts. Trustee candidate Ferb is a native New Yorker, veteran of the US Army, and holds a BA from City College and a PhD in Psycholinguistics and Computer Science from Penn State. He and his wife Karen are active in the community, participating in the Lions Club, Patchogue Arts Council, Garden Club, Patchogue Chamber of Commerce, and the Village Tree Committee. They have two grown children and one grandchild. Tom is an environmentally conscious individual, an avid bird watcher, fisherman, sailor, and an arts and opera enthusiast who also enjoys reading and film.
